The morning started out with an oh so fun scratch test. My boy squirmed so much that the nurse was hardly able to write the numbers on his back.

15 minutes later the results were ready to read. So apparently my baby has some food allergies and some animal allergies, just like we suspected. He was positive for peanuts and eggs, and negative for wheat. Which means that the reaction to bread was due to eggs. The good news is that now we don't have to deal with a gluten free diet! The bad news is that a lot of things that contain wheat, also contain egg. I was given several websites and references of places where I can find recipes and ways to cook and bake without using egg.
And as for the animal allergies, he is very allergic to cats and dogs. Which unfortunately means that he is supposed to completely stay away from those animals, and will be hard since we have a couple of family members who have cats.
It is also confirmed that B has asthma just like his dad. So he will be on a daily asthma medication, and we will also still use his nebulizer and albuterol as needed. And for the other allergies, we will have to carry around an Epipen , and keep Benadryl on hand.
After the appointment, we had to go the Primary Children's to have blood drawn so that they could test the severity of his food allergies. The nurse called me the next day to tell me that the peanut allergy is low which means that there is a good chance he will grow out of it. Hooray! However, the egg allergy is quite high and it is unlikely that he will grow out of it.
Jeff is sad thinking that his poor boy my not be able to play sports due to asthma and worries that he will be a colossal dork with his Epipen, inhaler, and allergies! I'm not so worried and am just glad that we aren't dealing with worse problems!

You're right- there could be worse things! This sounds just like my friend's daughter- she had the eggs and peanuts (milk, too), and mom has the Epipen. BUT she totally grew out of the eggs and she's almost 3.
Not that you would eat this as a staple to your diet, but you can make cake mix using Sprite with no oil or eggs. That's what she did for first birthday cake- and it was yummy!
So sorry to hear he has allergies! Poor thing, but at least he isn't allergic to milk too, that would make things even more difficult! Hope he grows out of the peanut allergy like they say he will! He sure is a cutie Jessie!! :)
Poor B man :( That makes me so sad. One of the basketball players at SUU had pretty bad asthma and he was one of the best ones on the team (which isn't saying much cause SUU sucks) so he could still play! And there is no way he could be a colossal dork. He is a stud. He just needs to follow his dad, not his mom. haha. Miss you.
poor little guy and poor parents! :(
The egg allergy sucks, but you are right, at least he's not on a gluten free diet- that one REALLY sucks. My nephew is basically allergic to everything except for meat, veggies, and fruit. Hang in there! Hopefully he will grow out of some of those allergies.
What a bummer. My brother out grew his asthma and is a semi pro bike racer. No dork there...as far as physical abilities go.
